We are in the midst of gearing up for Summer #9 at Brant Lake sports Academy and couldn’t be more excited. In the meantime, let me tell you a little bit about what I’ve been up to all year…
Upon my return from BLSA 2018, I competed in a spring triathlon, placing 2nd to a Division 1 cross country track athlete.
A few months later, my family and I took on the role of The Incredibles and became “real superheroes” (as my son would say)
You always feel like a superhero when you’re riding for a cure. A few times this year, I laced up my spin shoes and rode many miles in order raise money for breast cancer.
It’s never too late to try new things. With the winter Olympics returning to the US in a couple of year, I decided now was my chance! Curling just wasn’t my thing.
What I did find to be “my thing” was American Ninja Warrior. From the Ring of Fire to the Warped Wall, I found new ways to seek adventure right in my backyard.

Too old to try new activities? NEVER! This year, I also decided to take up spartan racing. In my first ever competition, I placed 19th out of 2,000.
And speaking of placing – In a local 5k race, I finally was the first to cross the finish line. I am feeling the win this summer in our annual HHHN 5K up at Brant Lake.
As we talk about firsts, our Assistant Director, Chloe Grimes had her first. She beat me for the first time in a basketball shootout. Don’t worry Chloe, there will be many opportunities for me to take you on this summer!
How do you do all this and still have time for family you ask? My family is always right by my side, either competing with me or challenging themselves to new adventures too!
I look forward to challenging campers every summer – helping girls to step out of their comfort zone and try new things. My year at home has been exciting, exhilarating and exhausting. I cannot wait to experience what’s to come at Brant Lake Sports Academy 2019!
