Overview and Philosophy

Brant Lake Sports Academy is a unique, professionally run 3-week resident summer camp for  motivated, sports-loving girls who have completed 6th through 10th grade.

Whether you're preparing to play on your middle or high school JV or Varsity team and want to take your game to the next level or if you just love playing sports, being active, having fun and making new friends, Brant Lake Sports Academy is the place for you.

A typical day is comprised of five periods offering considerable choice for everyone. There is plenty of opportunity for Sports Instruction. You will also participate in competitive games in a variety of different sports and can take advantage of our strong Strength and Fitness training program, which we encourage.

Additionally, girls can choose many other special activities we call Hobbies, such as ceramics, arts & crafts, archery, climbing wall -  and more. For even more fun, there are out-of-camp trips, movies, camp fires, cookouts and co-ed socials. Girls will also enjoy spending some time each day at our beautiful Waterfront - situated on a sandy bottom, crystal-clear lake -  which is perfect for swimming, skiing, sailing, beach volleyball and other activities. It is also a great place just to relax.

The food at Brant Lake Sports Academy is something we are very proud of. We serve healthy and delicious meals in our beautiful girls' clubhouse with plenty of salads, fresh fruit and vegetables. Snacks are readily available including sports bars, yogurt, fruit and fruit smoothies as well as juice. We even have a late evening snack and social hour in our Main Dining Room. Vegetarian and special diets are available and supported.

In terms of sports, Brant Lake Sports Academy is a place where young female athletes will develop their skills in one or more of what we call our Core Sports; Soccer, Basketball, Lacrosse and Volleyball. We expect that girls will choose a Major -  or one or two of our Core Sports that they would like to concentrate on. Other sports instruction is also available such as in our exceptional tennis program, taught by our professional staff, along with softball, water sports, golf and others.

With space for just 60 girls, we are small enough to provide more personalized instruction and coaching but large enough to allow for strong competitive team play.

Our Core Sports program is led by an exceptional coaching staff of experienced high school and college level coaches from across the USA and Europe who run all the skill development work, competitive game play, as well as strength, agility and fitness training. Our Directors and Head Counselors also come from strong sports and coaching backgrounds and stay involved in all aspects of the program. In addition, we have an excellent group of mature, experienced female, college-age counselors, with a passion for sports, who live with the girls in their cabins (we call them bunks). With a 4:1 camper to counselor ratio, our staff provide the necessary supervision and guidance while greatly adding to the fun and nurturing atmosphere of Brant Lake Sports Academy.

The Sports Facilities available to the Brant Lake Sports Academy are second to none. While a number of our facilities are used by both Brant Lake Camp for boys and the Brant Lake Sports Academy at different times based on their respective schedules, the Sports Academy also has a number of its own separate sports facilities. These include facilities for all four Core Sports plus a tennis court and a fitness workout room. Furthermore, it has its own Clubhouse and Lodge, bunks as well as recreational play areas for Frisbee, ping pong and other activities.

In support of our Core Sports, we have two indoor and 5 outdoor basketball courts including two which are lit for night play, a full soccer and lacrosse pitch as well as 3 smaller practice/game fields (one a state-of-the-art artificial turf playing surface and lights) and 3 volleyball courts. In addition we have 14 tennis courts (5 with lights), 2 softball fields, a fully equipped Fitness Center, golf facilities, including a hitting cage, an artificial turf multi-hole putting green and a mini, two-hole practice short course), plus a climbing wall, archery range and an incredible waterfront with skiing, sailing, kayaking and more. All the Sports Facilities are set on a beautiful 50-acre wooded campus with over 1200 feet of lakefront. (See the Sports Facilities section for a more complete summary.)

Overall, we believe there is no other place where you can play so many sports, sharpen your athletic skills, participate and acquire new skills in a wide range of other sports and activities,  all in a safe and fun environment. And where else could you do all this plus have the opportunity to end the day with a co-ed social and then sit around a campfire with friends gazing up at the stars.

You can find more information on each of the above areas of camp plus others, in the appropriate sections of this site.
